It all began at the Macquarie Chiropractic Clinic in 1972 when Dr. Mario Sabella, a newly graduated Chiropractor returned to Australia from the US. He brought with him the skills of manual muscle testing as used in Applied Kinesiology and taught by the founder Dr. George Goodheart of Detroit Michigan. Dr. Goodheart added clinical skills to the diagnostic evaluation of muscle strength originally researched by the Kendalls. Dr. Sabella first applied these skills in Australia while working in this clinic. Dr. Terry Baynard and Dr. Ian Hope continued this work until 1976. Today Applied Kinesiology continues to be provided by Dr. Donald McDowall and Dr. Dorothy Marshall. Dr. McDowall has provided these services since 1974. Dr. McDowall and Dr. Sabella began a series of teaching seminars to assist their colleague in learning these new skills of Applied Kinesiology. These programs began in 1976 and are continued today by their colleagues. It is estimated that 40% of all Chiropractors in Australia use part of the skills of manual muscle testing in their diagnosis. Since that time Applied Kinesiology has been embraced by many professions around the world. The members at the International College of Applied Kinesiology share information annually at their conferences. www.icak.com will provide more information for the interested reader.
